Intake air temp sensor placement with turbo
Since there appears to be no provions for mounting this, where do you turbo guys put it? In the pipe before the throttle body, or on the air intake on the turbo?

Re: Intake air temp sensor placement with turbo (mplex2000)
You're asking wether you should put it before or after the turbo? What's the point of putting it before the turbo, you're reading ambient are temp? Get a $2 thermometer for that.
Place it before the TB. The two sensor gaiuges are a little nicer especially if you have a water to air intercooler because you can check your intercooler efficiency.

You're talking about the stock sensor for the ECU right?
Since your DX has the "top-entering" TB I think you have to cut a hole in the intake piping and mount it there somehow.

Well, my DX is now a D/EX .. heh.
I'm still using the DX sensors, so ... you think it should go in the turbo's air intake pipe? Argh, more cutting and soldering...

Nope, the EX uses the same sensor as the DX, and both of them are plumbed into the air intake tube before the throttle body ...

Alright, I wasn't sure. I guess in the piping before the tb it is. Since you've been running without it, try putting it in before the turbo, see if there is a difference before and after in the tb piping. I think the heat of the intake charge may reduce the power output by retarding timing and-or reducing fuel due to less density of the air at higher temps. Since it is out.......

Re: Intake air temp sensor placement with turbo (G)
I've always wondered about that... it seems the IAT is going to be fighting us on boost if it's anywhere downstream of a turbo or SC since the ECU thinks it's getting less mass of air and leans the mixture correspondingly. If you put it upstream of the turbo you would still get the compensation for air temp on cold start, etc. but it wouldn't be pulling out your fuel under boost.
