Independent Electronic Boost Controller; DIY EBCs
i tried searching for this, but couldnt seem to find anything. Id like to do a cheapish EBC for my car, and ive so far found these two systems:
http://autospeed.drive.com.au/....html
this kit looks pretty sophistocated... boost control based on engine load, monitored via injector duty cycle
http://minimopar.knizefamily.n....html
this one is much more open ended, but is also much simpler. the first one im not sure i can handle, the second one should be doable.
im pretty excited about trying out the simpler one; im now trying to find someway of getting the circuit schematics to a form that is PCB ready
opinions on these two circuits?

Re: (LaXcAt)
well, i found a program that i can make the schematic diagram and it creates a 2-sided PCB for me.
now i just need to print out the pictures and transfer the images to an actual board. im going to try this guy's technique some time this week... link: http://www.pulsar.gs/PCB/a_Pag....html
wish me luck!

small update: ive sent requests for samples of most of the components i need for the circuitry. if i can get samples of all that stuff the only things ill need to buy are 2 small ICs, some special paper, and the pcb blanks.
hopefully needasample.com pulls through for me!

Re: (J. Davis)
the nice folks at texas instruments and NJR have sent me some samples of the ICs i need, ill wait a few more days to see if the other companies come through.
digikey has shipped my pcb blanks and transfer paper. hopefully it arrives today so i can try the printing transfer!

Re: (doubleA)
well, i have the circuit about half way soldered together. im going to have to repair a couple traces as i messed up the toner transfer a bit, but whatever. thats what jumper wires are for
once i get it completed im going to see if i can possibly sneak into one of the EE labs here on campus to use a power supply and test out my circuitry

you could sort of rig-up the simpler one to do something similar. use the tps voltage to open/close a solenoid that lets it go to a higher boost setting. not as smooth as the injector duty cycle thing, but cheaper... *shrugs*
