Hey guys I am new to the FI scene, I have a 1990 crx with a LS-Vtec in it, and I am looking to go with a small quick spooling turbo kit. I have been reading and doing a lot of research and found out some of the kits and compainies to stay away from. From example its cheap but gargae apparently .... ssautochrome.com. I was wondering what everyone impressions were of GodSpeed trubos.... something like this

And since I am going to be running low boost in this daily driver, I dont want any fancy manifold or anything. So I was thinking about going with a regular cast turbo manifold something like this...

Last question, if I go with a manifold like that with the wastegate built into it, and decide to go with a seperate inline blow off valve is there a block off plate that I could use on the manifold?

Picture is very clear, lol. I thought that I heard of people happy with Godspeed stuff though. Guess I was wrong! Any opinions on go-autoworks kits?

The wastegate and blow off valve are different thins, and you need both...
Wastegate bolts to manifold, this is what controlls boost pressure, it dumps out excess exhaust to slow down the turbo and controll boost.
Blow off valve goes onto charge pipes, This is what makes the whooosh sound when you let off the throttle, it lets out the remaining boost pressure when the throttle plate is closed.
They are 2 different items, and both are needed, dont get them confused, one works on the Hot or exhaust side, the other works on the cold or compressor side.
Go-autoworks does fantastic work, quality parts and great service. My turbo kit has several parts made by them, couldn't be happier.
I know it can be tough to tell which parts are low quality, so I'll give you a short list of the good brands.
Turbocharger: Garrett, Precision, Turbonetics. I personally prefer Garrett.
Wastegate: Tial. There are other brands that are good, but I always go with tial.
Blow off valve: Tial, Greddy, HKS...there are many more that work fine, just avoid no-brand ebay stuff. Tial is the universal answer, you simply put in the spring that matches your setup and it works perfectly.
If you buy everything from Go-Autoworks, you can't buy anything that will fail due to low quality parts.

The "tuner" kit has a bit better parts and install for the CRX than the "street" kit. Go for that instead. Plus you have the choice of better turbochargers to choose from, especially from Garrett.
Nothing crazy, just looking to give the daily driver some additional horse. The motor is not built for high boost. It does have 9.8 to 1 weisco pistons, prob thinking 5 to 10 lbs of boost. If thats even possible.
For the power you're looking for, you won't need that at all. That's only for extreme uses over 500whp with larger turbochargers for drag-race use. So don't worry about that.
I'm not much of a precision fan, but that's just me. Stick with the Garrett for now in a 4 bolt turbine housing, not the 5 bolt. that will keep your options open later.
Or because you want to look cool
Damn, i thought it was pretty much needed at the time when i fitted it all. Is this something you've known for a while ?
1) The turbo used is of a larger design (over 65lbs/min +) and is at such high boost pressure level, they actually ARE having a lot of crank case pressure to warrant the use of that to empty into the large Battery-sized catch can.
2) They use such large cans on these Valve-cover tapped setups because some tracks and race-classes require about 2 litres of possible drainage be contained within a system, instead of emptying out onto the track itself.
Otherwise, over 400-450whp, a good sized B&R can is more than enough to catch any ventilated pressure, without the need of destroying the valve cover to do so.
But you can be COOL too, I guess
Arrrrrrr... cheers Mac. I think i just got to caught in the "hype" at the time. I have those two ports on my valve cover along with two ports on the block leading to a modified Cusco catch can.
