The Blaster SS coil is no better than stock, they just cost a lot less and have a few hundred thousand miles and nearly a decade less wear and tear than the stock coil.

The MSD rotor is incorrectly clearanced to the cap and causes it to melt itself. All in all I'm not wholly impressed with the product line.

Hit and miss on stock distributor depends a lot on OE vs aftermarket (chinese) coil and ignitor aka avoid DK. I've seen all of one stock Honda ignition that needed to go below 0.020" plug gap, if the gap needs to be lower the coil is old and tired.

COP and such are expensive... spray a 35 shot and all your ignition problems will go bye bye.</TD></TR></TABLE>

intresting, so if you have a new distributor the MSD blaster SS and dist cap is kinda pointless?

change out the dizzy or coil like xenocron said.

also, .20 gap on a plug is not too big. i was running .25 on my friends 620whp setup w/o ignition problems

Notice I made a distinction between OEM and aftermarket/chinese units such as DK.

I've milked 429-442 whp out of a stock distributor, gap at .020-.024", on three different cars in the last year. Everyone else who's come wanting/capable of more already has an ignition upgrade so I didn't get a chance to play around.

Admittedly, given how old most distributors are by now, a large portion of cars I've tuned looking for 350+ have issues and get an external Blaster coil, or more expensive upgrade depending on their power goal and desire. I'm just neurotic and have to point out there's a difference between a weak distributor, which Honda doesn't make, and a great distributor that's worn out by a lifetime of use.
