will it be safe to run a IAT sensor in charge piping, in a boosted application? any concern of leaks?
this is the type of sensor i will be using. sorry for the blurry picture

Re: (Jared)
am asking if he is using a stock or aftermarket intake manifold since some aftermarket manifolds have a place on the intake to fit the IAT on....i cant remember if its b16 or b18 victor manifolds?

i was told by someone on some JDM B series engine the IAT sensor come on the intake or he could have ment the TB, but since you are sure that it fits on the intake!
i think doing a plate sounds like a good idea to me ....just put it some where hidden when u finish that weld with some cheap black can spray where nobody will notice!

Re: (IntegraTypeR)
I ran a y8 automatic manifold on my eg hatch this last summer. I had to drill out for the IACV, but it was easier to put my IAT sensor in my charge pipe. Mine is just exhuast pipe, so i just smashed a small section flat, like an inch worth of it drilled it out, used some rtv and had no issues with it.

well my usdm b18b motor with the stock intake manifold had a place for it. this one you can tell where its supposed to go, but it was never tapped for it.
i know where the IAT is, is not a good idea. i just did that for a temp fix.

Re: (integra3586)
this is what i rigged up
i think it will work pretty well. i did put lock tite, on the threads, so i dont accidently suck up a nut if it wants to vibrate loose

Re: (Tony the Tiger)
i made something similar before, but i had the nuts on the outside of the coupling so you could inspect it to make sure it wasnt coming loose...i only ran it to start up the engine.
but for your original question, i run the iat in my charge piping (y8 manifold). i use the stock iat and stock rubber grommet...i just drilled the hole somewhat undersized so that the sensor is somewhat hard to push in. i've had no problems yet, up to 10psi...
