Default I keep hearing bad things about JRSC

I keep hearing bad things about JRSC, why is this? Are they really that unreliable? I was thinking about getting one for my gsr. What is it that so many people hate about them? I have heard they are more reliable than turbos, is this not true? Whats the deal? Just wonderin.

My experience is that people here hate on the JRSC... hahaha.

You will most probably make more power with a turbo boosting about the same amount, and the rush you get when your car spools up with a turbo can't be beat... but immediate boost is kinda nice also.

Check out http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-bin/for...r=40&SUBMIT=Go Everyone on that board has a JRSC... everyone here is all about the turbo.

J&S Ultra safeguard should be in soon. It's just that.. some gauges... and maybe an FPR.

Should be done relatively soon.

yes, it runs like *** is a pretty good description. my friends 96 hatch w/GSR JRSC@6 psi only putting out low 190 hp and a 95 turbo LS integra i did puts out 220 hpand 185 tq @ 7psi. but if there is anybody out there who is a JRSC believer can buy my friend's for real reasonalbe price soon only 3000 miles on it.

I say it all depends what you are looking for as far as performance.

If you are an all out performance nut and want a drag car with huge top end horsepower, it's turbo all the way. But if you're like alot of people, (myself included) want more low end grunt (where Honda's need it most) for everyday use and drieability, then I say go Supercharger. Both are good, it just where your performance needs are.

And I've never read the blowers being bad on the kits, but I have read that alot of the intake manifolds have had casting flaws in them.

I personally think that the JRSC is a stepping stone to a bigger picture for boosting performance in Hondas. Why do I say that? Well it seems that everyone who owns a JRSC had either thought about or switched to the turbo camp. I personally recommend turbo b/c that to me seems more streetable. Turbo cars won't peel out all crazy unless you launch it. So drive normal and you will drive with 0 boost.
Mesh the throttle and you will experience whatever boost you are set to. Turbo kits are easily expandable and easy to maintain. It just requires a lot of maintenance.

I am on a stock block GSR and have been boosting hard for 15 months now. I have no problems and have a 195 compression across the board. However I change spark plugs and oil every month 1/2 or after ever racing event.

IF you go JRSC, you know you can always add NOS and smoke turbo hondas as you reach the 1320s in 11 seconds!! heheheh

Oh yeah, 6 pounds of boost on a T04/T3 (turbo in Drag gen 3 kit) will provide significantly more power than a JSRC.

My friend also had to change his JSRC belts twice in a year. That was a major pain in the butt but he upgraded his pulley set to do 10 pounds of boost and guess what?

He ended up selling his setup and got a turbo setup. Go figure...

Hey AzianAvenger, does your friend change his belts twice a year because if driving habits, though I guess what would that have to do with belt life? Mabey they aren't adjusted right.

Also, how much maintence do you do on your turbo in comparison?

Don't believe everything you hear about them being bad. I put 40K miles on my integra which is my daily driver with no problems. I bought me a hatch to play with and put the charger on it. But since it is not my daily driver I bought a turbo for it. Like mentioned earlier.. if you want a not so high maintance the blower is just fine.. but if you like popping your hood frequently checking oil, plugs, etc... maybe its not for you. But there is a trade off.. turbo definatly is faster. But it is decieving.. I absolutely hate the turbo lag.. I was spoiled by my blower (which is for sale ) I cant do anything about the lag as I am looking for top end so I have to live with it. I do admit though it's a cool feeling once it does spool up. -- HANG ON!!!!!

JRSC is something fun for the money....u can spend some more money and than get a turbo and get more power....personaly im a turbo guy but if u want something to put just a little pep in ur step than go for it. Most people on this board are about high hp. I am one as well. But if you want something fun to drive and dont want to spend that much money go for it. Just dont think your **** is super fast.

There is a supecharged ITR on importreview running 18 psi and making 450 + HP at the wheels (thats with an 80 shot of NOS). So take off the NOS and he is making about 360 - 375 to the wheels easy.

I like the jrsc, I want one for my car. I think its just because that most people want to be the fastest one out there. I personally don't, no matter what I do I'm never going to be the fastest. With a turbo you can get close to that though, with a jrsc you can be the faster then your average car and that's what I would like.

I don't understand how those jrsc run higher then 10psi. GSRev how did it go when you went to 11psi? Jackson says that the blower becomes ineffienct after 10psi because of excessive heat. And Maybe the type r with 18psi wasn't a jrsc, i don't know.

Also, The s/c is more of an everyday driver friendly. The low end torque is much better for our small displacement engine. Also if you like the idea of AutoX, the jrsc would be perfect for that. When I turn 18, i want to sign up for it and take my car around the track, test out my driving skills.

So if you want to be fast, like really fast take turbo, if you like just being pretty quick for a 4banger and like the more usable power go jrsc.

There will be always another setup faster than yours, case in point this POS example:
http://pages.cthome.net/gus/slug.html

I think this "slug" can outrun 99% of the FI cars on this board.

Well...let me just put it this way, I got NOTHING on the JRSC...if you want to buy it, it would give you power...PERIOD. My friend has an Si with I/H/E. He strapped on a JRSC and got it tuned...and was only able to get 178whp out of it. If you ask me, that ******* sucks. I can't remember what torque he got, but the hp was way low.

I recently put a NOS 5122 50 shot dry kit on my car, and I can honestly say that I have NOT been to the dyno, but I would be suprised to see anything under 190whp...

JRSC is pretty much ***.
Trust GSR ran high 12s with his JRSC setup, so I'd have to say the JRSC is not ***, considering many people with turbo can't run 12s.

I think he's somewhere in the mid 12s with his turbo setup now...

ok folks:

JRSC - its the best no fuss daily driver power adder. just change the belts every 20k miles. get the MAP controller or a J&S and leave everything else as is.

turbo - more power more maintenance more options, easier to blow your **** up.

end of story.

well..bottom line is both will make significant power gains but it boils down to tuning the car, yes a turbo can blow **** up...but jrsc can screw up the motor pretty bad too with suck *** tuning.
