I have a customer that is set on his hx35 and wants a top mount. Are there any off the shelf manifolds that can do this in a ek. I cant cut or trim anything in the bay, do to the fact that the bay was just painted and shaved . I have searched and looked at the holset thread and most setups I saw in eks had logs or splogs. any help would be great!

 

Most top mounts should work without issue, however depending on which turbine housing it has, clearance might be an issue.

You should look at the holset thread and see peoples setups and go from there

 

like I menssioned i did scan over the thread and it is a 7 blade 12cm housing

 

I've seen holsets on top mounts, my friend had one in his ek (sohc) but he still had plenty of room so it should work without cutting

If its not in the holset thread then good luck... won't know till you try it... or he might have to go bottom mount, top mounts won't really matter at hx35 power levels unless he just wants it because of how it looks

No. Most "Ramhorn" Kooks-style manifolds are geared towards the Garrett/Turbonetics/Precision cartridge length. When you start to get to the Holset and Borg-Warner families, be prepared to possibly do some modifying. It may bolt up (if you have the correct downpipe flange) it might not. You're at a point you have to try and see. I know you might not want to perform some "work", but that's why the customer should be compensating you for your time and effort.

It all comes down to the turbine housing, the 12cm is "similar" in size and profile to a Garrett but is a bit larger. And the cartridge length is longer but if you're doing drivers side placement without ac of shouldn't be an issue

You're going to have to email various manifold builders and see what they say

 

I told my guy that if he wanted to go cheap on the turbo he would end up spending more on the manifold but none the less it is a 12cm hx35 7 blade but if I get a Bp housing will that help majorly with manifold options I know that for its size the hx has a massive compressor
