do u guys at synapse have a smoke tester to check for boost leaks. even though everything may look connected u can still have boost leaks.

i thinker every dyno shop should have a SnapOn smoke tester to check for leaks. u find leaks withing seconds! best money spent

hows the spool? u have n e pics of the engine bay?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by mike@synapse motorsport &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">These weren't the final charts, and the afr was cleaned up more on the streets, but you get the picture. Like dom said, we pretty much tried everything to make power, probably a total of 7 hours on the dyno playing with diffrent maps, diffrent timing values, diffrent afr. We moved vtec all over and witnessed changes in the graph and afr. Checked base timing 3 times, cam timing, etc. Checked the vtec soleniod with a test lamp, checked the intercooler for clogs, boost leaks etc. Even with cars that i have tuned on the dyno that didn't go into vtec we always have seen an increase in hp with increase in boost (up to a point).

</TD></TR></TABLE>

You checked if the solonoid worked and if it was getting a signal, but you should hear/feel when vtec kicks in. Make a run with the solonoid disconnected. IF, you are low on oil pressure, the opening of the solonoid may create just enough pressure drop to disengage the vtec. Check oil pressure!!!

I hate issues like this. good luck.....

my first thought was something actually blocking the engines flow of air, like a rag in the IC or a fallen bolt in a runner of someting crazy.

Also, maybe Vtec is engaging and then dis engaging.

No matter what way u look at the vtec thing, this engine should be making a shitton more torque, even w/ the shitteist mani.

i said in an earlier post that i could now hear/feel vtec because it was the first time i drove the car on dry pavement. i already checked the oil pressure and it is over 60psi

the spool on that turbo sucks too and it shouldnt with a log...IMO find a new tuner</TD></TR></TABLE>
looks like theres fuel to support it to me...

ya we checked the bov and its not leaking. there was no filter on for any of the runs because morgan said that the day before, there was a car that lost 25whp with the style filter i had.

all dyno pulls were with no filter. i believe its the exhaust manifold that was on it, thats why i built a mini ram. i am going to the dyno as soon as i finish the mani to see.

The waste gate neck on your log manifold was ridiculously poor in terms of angle and placement. Wouldn't surprise me much if it was churning the air so badly the head couldn't breathe

Congrats on fixing the problem though
