How well does a grillcraft hide an intercooler?
I won't lie. I hate grillcrafts, but, unfortunetly with the recent addition of my turbo, I must now hide my intercooler. I painted it black, and am thinking about adding this ricey POS to my front grill and painting it black as well. I need to know where I can buy one that fits a 94 Integra for a cheap price. I checked Home Depot, and they didn't have any **** worth buying.
do you have a body kit or something? my greddy intercooler wasnt painted and it wasnt noticable. i remember a member here painting his black.. it made it look like a radiator. but anyway to answer your question, i dunno about grillcraft, but i've seen turbo cars with grills. the grills do a pretty good job of hiding it, but if you are a few inches from it, you will always be able to see it.
I got mine for $20 so I cant complain much. Not to many people notice that my ride is turbo'd maybe its because the grill craft grille dunno but it shure seems to hide the intercooler pretty good.
Add it but don't paint it black, the contrast between your black I/C and the shinny grill guard will to well to hide it from everything but an up close inspection. Works very well for mine, check the Intercooler pics thread for some examples. Beside if someone is close enough to see your blacked out I/C, then there close enough to get whacked with a stick if need be

Painted it silver then put a clear coat over that....the i/c is less visable but you can still see it.
Here is a pic of Integrated109's R with a GrillCraft covering his FMIC. The only time you can see the I/C is when the sun hits the polished end tanks and then it is still hard to see.

I'm pimping my grillecraft, which I proudly got for $40 shipped (used) and it hides my I/C very well, thank you. But I also painted my I/C and endtanks black with high temp spray, that black has held up for over a year as is... (of course the G/C protects it from chipping) But you can't see my I/C unless you use a flashlight at night or take a REALLY close look thru the small grill openings. I am all for it... plus, when installed right, the grillecraft fits well and involves no cutting of grille sheeting.

This is NOT a grillcraft, but just thought I'd show you what the $4 home depot grill hides.... nothing really but if your driving around at night its not all that visible, and keeps big things from hitting it :D

Home Depot Grilles !!!X2
I had home depot grills on my car too before but the holes were smaller than that and it really protected the ic but I started thinking if it was blocking too much air flow to cool the ic properly so I removed it.
Heh...man, I don't think it makes THAT big of a difference. Of course it restricts flow, but I doubt enough to have any signifigant affect on the IC's cooling performance.
You can almost not see my intercooler with grillcraft on my car.

IMO:
i wouldnt put a grill on.. but if you insist on somewhat hiding the intercooler, it does the trick. i just figured that since u already painted it black, that would fine enough for the sleeper look. home depot grills use to be cool.. but now they are ghetto. some import shops actually sell some cool metal grills. they look like the grills that come with certain body kits.
I'm just worried because my Integra is my own means of transportation, and fall classes start up in a few weeks, and parking my car on campus is gonna be scary. I know that there will be a certain amount of restriction of air flow, but,not enough to kill my turbo.

Ouch!! Got a beater to drive? Parking a nice car on campus is always a pain.
No. I'm looking at buying a mid 80's Corolla coupe or an old 88 Prelude.
why would you want to hide your intercooler? so peeps wont know your turbo? what about your BOV? you bought it and paid mad cash just for a intercooler to hide it? i gotta say thats different.

Can I get an 88 Accord for under $1000?
