Default How safe is the FMU?

What are the downsides of having just the FMU stock injectors and stock fuel pump? I'm running the revhard stage 2 and I'm concerned with the stability of my system.

Just wanted to post,
Dave

If you dont want to run alot of boost it works fine. Im talking like 7-8 lbs is what I would think is the most you should be running with it. If you want mroe than that you need to invest in a standalone. But 7-8 lbs is fast as it is. A guy on here was in the 12's with an FMU, so it works.

ive been running fine and strong for a long time with fmu setup. It makes you run rich so you are on more of the safer side.

I think they are 240's but I could be wrong. I would keep it at 9 at the very highest. That is 108 psi of fuel pressure right there at 9 lbs. I guess if it is working it shold continue to work, just dont turn it up.

an AFC would work good to fine tune the fuel, add it where you need it and take it away where it is to rich, i think that with an fmu and an afc, if you have your head on straight you can make your car run pretty good. seat of your pants dyno style!
evan better if you can get ahold of a wideband o2 sensor, then you can dial it in nicely.

The primary downside is a blown motor.

You /HAVE/ to have a high pressure inline pump installed to use the standard FMU fuel system.

Even then, it is not very reliable except for short runs. The insanely high fuel pressure heats the injectors up (takes more amperage to open them) and fuel delivery becomes unpredictable -- This is why so many people blow motors doing high speed runs w/ the FMU.

scarey thought... so an inline pump and some new injectors will be better? What injectors do you recommend?

lower your fmu rate to 8:1 and get 310cc injectors. other than that... do yourself a favor and get an inline pump. you should be usin one in the first place. once u have an inline fuel pump... you will be fine runnin with stock injectors. i just wouldnt boost past 7 with stock injectors.
