Default How much nitrous?

How big of a shot should I run?

D16Y8 block:
SRP 10.5:1 .020 overbore pistons
Eagle Rods
Golden Eagle block guard welded in
ACL bearings

Fuel System:
Hondata S200
Holley 255lph hp fuel pump
DSM 450cc injectors

It's stock ignition system still, but I am considering an MSD 6A

if you run a direct port setup then an 80-100 shot should work just fine.
if using a wet system then 80 shot is normally the limit.

you could try a 125 shot but i'm not sure if the D series sleeves with a slight overbore will hold up to that over time. the best bet is to run up to a 100 shot, but make the mixture is perfect, good bottle pressure and good jetting with the fuel.

i've run DP 100+ shot on the B series before with 11:1 C/R and they held up fine, but i'm not sure how strong those D series sleeves are...

Thanks, anyone know if the D Series sleeves can hold more?

How much horsepower do you think your putting out now? I think 450's max out about mid to high 200, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Are you thinking about using the hondata nitrous control's? Has a sweet timing retard feature, control a direct port with it if you want.

Yes I will be running the nitrous control feature. I'm putting out a little over 180whp now on a 75 shot with stock injectors. What do you mean by control a direct port?

I don't think I'd spray any more than 100 with your bottom and high compression, probably be best direct port and would have to be tuned into your setup due to compression. Use the hondata nitrous controls to pull timing for you. I'm have a similar block, d16z6 bored 30, str block guard, spraying a small shot though just to cool my charge.

So a direct port dry setup then? I was hoping to manage 125 shot. I don't think compression should be that big of an issue because with those pistons the compression ratio isn't really as high as they say. It calculates to about 10.1:1 with the regular Y8 head gasket, and about 10.4:1 with the thinner two layer head gasket. Not to mention nitrous loves compression

with all that stuff done to the bottom-end i think it could handle a 100shot

At 10:1 you could probably manage a 125. I've seen 110 DP sprayed on a stock bottom end (for quite a while anyway). I'd start low though and work your way up.

start with a 100 shot but make sure you stick with NOS recommendations when you start, they seem to make therer tune a little on the fat side which will make it safer, you can always pull jet out of the fuel side to tune your set up the way you want...

Thanks, I was planning on starting tuning with 100 shot, but in hopes of making it to 125 shot. Anyone ever run this much on a D Series or am I going to be the first. Oh wait, Zex Man did it.

Just spoke on the phone with Zex. I told them I would be running DSM 450cc injectors, Hondata S200, and a 255lph hp fuel pump. They said I should be fine with a 125 shot dry. They told me I would need a #43 jet for the 100 shot and a #52 jet for the 125 shot.

If you talked to Joey..he is the coolest...... . I beat that 125 will be fun. I think you'll be fine, but I would try the wet system because at that level of nitrous..well you you have hondata.............go for it
