How much does your Flywheel weigh?
So i am doing another swap. Right now im running an 8 lb flywheel which i dont mind. I do feel that between shifts if i am not super quick i do fall out of boost really easily. I think i want to go back to stock.
SOHC w/ greddy kit is what im running.

Re: How much does your Flywheel weigh?
as fast as your rpm rises from the light weight flywheel it also drops just as quick not being able to have that enertia that heavier flywheels have to sustain that exhaust preassure(sorry if i worded this wrong) losing spool faster.
i been doing research for the past couple hours and thats what most say to us around 12lbs.

Fidanza flywheel ~7-8lbs and loving it. I can careless about the inertia crap. I figured the crank will do a good enough job spinning the flywheel while I'm changing gears "grandma style"

Re: How much does your Flywheel weigh?
i loved driving my old turbo probe with my fidanza flywheel. and my freinds turbo d16 drives fine and rev matches really easy with his exedy(i think) flywheel.

I have a CC 8lb flywheel on my Sohc.
Stays in boost really well actually.
I was kinda afraid is was gonna act crazy, but its fine.

Not sure honestly, never weighed it by itself but I think the CC twin flywheel I have is 11-14# maybe?

Stock here... i had a fidanza 7.5lb flywheel and i put the stock one back in and actually went faster ET's..it was on street tires and the track conditions were the same.. power was the same also... could have been driver but im not totally sure.

Re: How much does your Flywheel weigh?
I just dont see how a light weight flywheel can slow you down at all. There is plenty of other weight on the crank to keep the inertia. The pressure plate is heavy as hell too. If you think about it, i dont think the motor will gain more top end. However, it should release more wtq in the mid range rpms since its alot more easy to spin that crank?? I know this is a subject that has been debated for years with no real answers. (just like the b16 vs gsr head debates) Someone needs to dyno a stock motor with a stock flywheel and then dyno it again in the same weather conditions with a light one. Then you can compare the power curves.

This subject has been covered a million times. It doesnt make much difference either way. Its more about driving preferance than performance.
Redemon said it best - Everyone thinks its going to be insane and its not a big deal.

Re: How much does your Flywheel weigh?
gringotegra, I think it was the driver
Honestly, I dont think it matters which one you go with... I just went with the Fidanza because I had an extra one laying around and buying the lil metal insert was like $30 more than getting the stock flywheel resurface...
I'm sure either way it will be just fine.

im not sure man, all i know is i consistantly went faster with the Stock flywheel...look in that thread i posted pages 4 and 5 i posted all the info i could....
im not doggin on either one... as far as i know all the Real race cars have light ones...i think there is a fine line between too light and just right for each setup..

Re: How much does your Flywheel weigh?
awesome cause i was thinking about this too.
I know heavier = less easy to wheel spin.
Right now with my 8# i spin VERY easily in 1st.
so i guess its 50/50 its only 60 for a OE replacement which was what i was going to buy to replace my 8# now im not so sure.

Re: How much does your Flywheel weigh?
If you are falling out of boost with a lighter flywheel then shift faster?
You are letting your RPM drop too low between shifts - that's the only thing slowing you down.

Re: How much does your Flywheel weigh?
I had an ACT 11lb fly with my previous setup. Now i have a stock LS Fly on my current setup. I'll give up a few revs in order to boost earlier in the rpm range...my turbo is going to need all the help it can get for a street application
