how many hours does it take to tune...
SO I'm going to put my turbo on myself.
Then going to have exhaust and AEM EMS put on.
Finally get it tuned.
The place says on their website its $150/hr to tune.
How many hours am I likely looking at? (ballpark)
The guy is certified/recommended by AEM themselves so I assume he's decent.

it all depends too how long it takes for them to strap your car to the dyno. Some people say you only need 2 runs or so. If you want the absolute best, maybe 10 runs?
back in the day when i had aem it took 6-7 hours to set it up and tune, then the tuner blew my motor up!it was a horrible day and i walked away w/ a bill of over $800.

Depends on the tuner and how good a base map they have to work with.
When my Civic was tuned on Hondata, it took Frank @ SFP nearly 5 hours to complete the tune from scratch. The Integra on the other hand took about 2hrs because he already had a GSR basemap that was remarkably close to my setup.

you are going to have your car street tuned before you throw it on the dyno i hope. The aem is not just a plug and play system. There are a ton of things that need to be set up to make the car start, idle and run smooth. If you are thinking you can just plug it in and drive to a dyno you will have a bad headache.
i think my first session took about 3-4 hours but that was with a little trouble and having to fix the boost controller in the middle of tuning. second time was about 2 hours, but with the same boost controller problem. just depends on the tuner and if you run into any problems.
yea it depends on the tuner. i would deff have the partial throttles done befoer the dyno , they take forever. and the dyno isnt the best simulator to get the a/f's down on partials. thne do some full throttle pulls on the street to get it decent . Then go to the dyno and just patch up any flat spots and perfect everything with timing and **** . thats the cheapest most effective wayIMO
