Default how long do walbro's last??

debating taking the walbro out of my old car and putting it into my new turbo car. the pump has around 20-25k miles on it. do these have a lifespan or is it similar to a stock pump? ive never run the car empty or below 1/8 tank, cus i know they can get hot with no gas around them to dispurse the heat

I've known people have had them in their cars for 30-40k+. I've had mine (255HP) in my car for 4 years and 30k and it still works perfectly.

They will last as long as a stock pump.

Stockers last over 200k usually, so I dont think a walbro will bite the dust after 30. Keep her.

my walbro didnt die...but it couldnt hold its pressure once i got into boost, it had about 40k mi on it.

threw in another 255hp that was on a car making 600+whp and that one leaned out on high boost 23+psi...

i havnt had too much luck with em

hopefully the boschs wont give me problems

It depends on what type of abuse the pump was subjected to... Obviously higher fuel pressures would mean more heat, wear and tear and shorter lifespan.

Watch out for knock off Walbro pumps that seem to float around on Ebay recently...

My walbro has been used for a long long time; I had it when I was all motor back in '99... I am still on the same pump and it still runs like a champ after 7 years and over 90000 miles...LOL My rail pressures are constantly above 50 psi during idle, and up to 70 during boost.

I hate it when people say that. Why don't you just tell us? Also, there doesn't seem to be a good alternative for an in-tank pump. I'd get a Bosch, but it seems like a pain in the ***.

Why don't you give a little more information!!

Like: fuel pressure, FPR, boost level? If you were running high fuel pressure levels you can only blame the idiot who did the wrenching and not the pump. It is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that Walbro's do not like high fuel pressure levels. Or maybe you were trying to make a single Walbro support a HP goal that was not within it's range? Provide more info or STFU

Oh yeah, I have been using a Walbro pump since '01 with no problems.

I guess that's why I hate it. You already told us what it did, but left us with the anticipation of reading something so spectacular, that we had to first ask permission for said information.

well mine is dead i have had it for about 4 years and 40k but the thing has had a over heat issue for about 2 years where if the tank was 1/4 i better not shut the car off the pump would not start back up.

and that is a problem with at small tank that is in a HF.

The symptoms you've described sounds more like a wiring issue instead.

The pump constantly cools as it pushes fuel... In order to physically overheat the pump to the point of "locking up" momentarily, your fuel temperature must be like 500+ deg F A wiring issue (bad ground, too much resistance from under-gauged wires, etc) would cause electrical compents to heat up and momentarily loses its function.
