Default how to hardwire fuel pump?

well i have a crx with a fully built b16 and i heard from my tuner that if i hardwire my fuel pump that it will lower my duty cycle up to 30% im using precision 1000cc injectors and i was at about 91% duty cycle on my last tune
im shooting for 500hp in the next few days so if anyone has done this please help me out. im using a walbro 255lph intank pump i heard you have to use some relay to hardwire it?

Look at the bottom of the relay and install the wires as follows. Prob wanna get you some either 10 or 8 gauge wire with an inline fuse, and come straight off the battery.

30 to your battey (new larger wire)
85 from the original wire to your fuel pump
86 to ground
87 to your fuel pump(new large wire)

Then you might wanna go ahead and run a big wire for the ground side of the fuel pump too.

I like to use the signal wire that turns on the pump (wired OE) as the signal to turn on the relay. Just cut it and attach the 2 ends to pin85 and pin86 (If I remember correctly). Then just hot wire (with 10-12 guage) with a fuse from the battery to the relay (pin87) and from the relay (pin 30) to the pump.

hope this helps

Only problem is that you have to complete the circuit through the relay for it to turn on(switched side). If you have power to 85&86 then the relay will do nothing. You must have 12+ to one side and ground to the other. Doesnt matter which side.

BTW if you did it the way you described you would have installed the relay as a resisitor inline with the fuel pump and prob burn the relay out pretty fast. Let along maybe short out a lot of stuff..

sorry its been a while since I did it and I was at work in a hurry when I wrote that. I did not just install the relay "inline" with the stock pump wiring, but now that you mention it I did explain it wrong.

Id have to go look at it again, but I think I cut the wire going to the pump, then hooked the pos. side up to 85. Then just grounded the other side on 86 with some wire and an eyelet.

But the point is I used the switched ign "on" position to power the relay that turns on the pump.

All you need to know is how a relay works.
The info on this site should make it very easy for you to understand.

Get yourself a 30 amp SPST automotive relay. (12 volts)

85 to ground
86 to stock fuel pump wire
87 to fuel pump (14 gauge wire)
30 to battery with in line fuse (14 gauge wire)
