Really? I always thought that it was just a bolt on like a CAI. J/K
But seriously you need to find someone with trans know how and be able to replace bearings and such. Also while you in there you may want to examen the internals for where and possible replace gears, or synchros if you are have problems now.

You also have to buy two bearings from honda to get it to fit in your tranny.
Find someone who can do it for you as it is not really an easy task.
You also need a bearing puller and a hydraulic press to do the job.

I got a quaife in my LS trans, The labor is definately more than the labor to install a clutch, expect $250+ and any other ish that you have to replace while the tranny is apart
the procedure really isnt something that can be explained over the web or on a forum. Your best bet would be to pickup a Helms manual and follow the procedure in the book. Actually getting the diff in/out of the trans isnt all that difficult for a first timer if you follow the book, but shimming it can be intimidating the first time around if you aren't familiar with feeler gauges.

haha your welcome.
I'm just about to start doing mine. OBX LSD in a B16a tranny.
Although my friend just put a Quaife in his LS and brought his tranny and diff to some guy at a honda dealership by us and it was $100. I don't know if anyone else could ever find that good of a price but just saying.

theres a how-to on cspeed or overboost... i red through it, didnt look like somthing id want to try, pulling a part the whole trans n junk
My Quaife was a direct replacement in my B16 tranny, used the same shims as the stock diff. When I first got it, I pulled the tranny and dropped it off at a Honda place and the guy charged me $75 to put the LSD in it. I've had it apart since then a few times and I did it myself, it's not too hard. If you're just replacing the diff, then you don't have to disassemble the gears, and they lift out as two big assemblies. My transmission also already had the non-tapered bearings. They were a bit notchy, so I got new ones, but they were the same as the original stock bearings.
Mine has the non tapered bearings too but do you need a bearing press to take them off?
And does anybody know if the bearings should swap over to the OBX some say 40mm and others say 38 or 35 i think
obd1 b16a tranny
