how to custom build a turbo kit!?
i did search this and it came up a bunch of turbo kits for sale. i dont really know that much about boosting but i do know i want that extra power. so if anyone could shed a little insight and how to knowledge to me it would be great. Also where do i start what do i need right away am i better off spending the 1500 hundred for a complete greddy kit for my dseries motor. i have a d15b jspec motor with some basic bolt ons like intake, d16y8 intake manifold, sparkplugs/wires im running a p28 right now. not much done to the car other then that i have some springs and a short shifter but thats it. so what do u guys think?Ohh yeah and im running a cx tranny right now which has really long gears i mean like my first ends at like 45 and i hit top speed in third at 110. i ran with this exact setup 17.4 and trapped a 79.39 1/4mile which is weak but my question is should i keep the long gears for boost or just switch to the si tranny like my original plans?

Check out the forced induction section of the site.
If you read all of the stickies you will be able to build your own kit no problem

If you see a ton of turbo kits for sale, have you bothered to check what was included in the kit? If you take a look at the common items that always seem to be sold with these kits, you'll have an idea of where to start as far as which components are needed and what names to go with.
Aside from EJ1's link, do some Googling too. Corky Bells' book "Maximum Boost" is a good read if you're just getting into the scene.
