Default hot intake temps???

hry guys, how can i get my intakes down? h22a fully built, fullrace mani, SC-61 turbo, 44 tial. 1 bar boost, vertical flow intercooler. and this is in a JDM 1992 prelude

i just cant seem to get them lower, i removed my idle air control valve, running AEM EMS. stopped the heated throttle body thing, heat wrapped my IC pipes. larger oil cooler to help bring the engine temps down, mugen thermostat.

please help?

bigger IC, N20 bar in front of the IC, water to air IC, run the turbo in its efficiency range, etc

I think the heat wrap on your IC pipes would bring the temps up instead. You should wrap anything near the pipes that is hot such as DP or dump tube, etc... Having the IC pipes wrapped insulates them which makes it difficult to conduct with ambient air.

Upgrade to aluminum IC pipes if your using mild steel or ss. Then you will have a much better heat sink affect... Conducting hotter IAT's radiating from pipes (your heat sink) to the cooler ambient air.

Is the air filter near anything generating heat? Maybe relocate to cooler air intake, or make air duct to channel cold air to the filter.

You haven't mentioned what your temps actually are anywhere...

ok, guys, im running alloy IC pipes,
my intake temps are around the range of 80-100, you may say thats normal, but i live in england and its dam cold here1 in winter my intake temps never went above 70, ive had to take so much timing out because of the higher intake temps!

i run the turbo at 1 bar, what is the efficiency range of the SC61?

ive got a friend with a scooby, he wrapped his IC pipes and it made a huge difference, so i have tried it! thats why.

i dont run a filter on the turbo, just mesh, so do you think routing some air to the turbo will help?

to help combat intake air temps and detonation we run water/meth injection systems on all our forced induction cars. something you may want to consider. http://www.fjoracing.com/products/waterinjection/

depends where your IAT is also. mines on the IM

Generally my IAT's are about 25-30 degrees above the outside temp while cruising. they will obviously go up quite a bit at stops

Im aware that a large majority of the heat in a boosted car comes from the turbo and the compressing of the air but aside from that what do you think about the plastic intake manifold spacers?

put your IAT sensor in the charge piping... the intake manifold is a heat sink in itself.

That sounds about right. That's similar to cars here in vancouver that I have datalogged. If the engine idles for a long time, the intake manifold gets heatsoaked and I have seen temps as high has 68°C, but then it cools down to ~40°C once you have been moving for awhile.

Some cars I have tuned run up to 140's. It's fine and you just tune that car for those temps. Others will drop intake temp with a nice intercooler in boost. Others are not set up correctly or have a undersized IC, undersized turbo, etc.
