Default Hondata ROM conversion question (P28 to P72)

So I got my P72 about a week ago and chipped it, took the ign and fuel maps off my old P28 ROM, made a P72 ROM, and put the maps back on it.......and it didn't run right at all (this was all V2.5 stuff)......anyone know why?
Now I've got the S200 and all the V3 software, so what is the correct procedure to take my maps off the P28 and put them on the P72 so everything will run like it did on my P28? Anything I could have forgotten to do the first time? I've got to do this sometime today because we're putting the P28 in another car (for hondata also).....
Thanks! I feel stupid asking this because it seems so simple, but I had to have messed something up the first time

You have to go and open a new file, then go through the whole entire process of selecting the ecu type. Once you have successfully done this (hint pick the p72 ecu in the list of ecu categories), then go to import. Import the file that you wish to use, and it should be as easy as that. You want to check what kind of ecu is selected in the tab at the top of the screen via rom editor.

Hmmmm.....that's what we had done and it didn't work properly.....
We were thinking there was something to do with the injector trim? Like the tables for fuel and ignition are exported and imported, but that other information isnt...

I see what you are saying. That could be a possibilty, although i have never had a problem importing tables properly. Try this, set up a p72 ecu type and do the injectors calibration and fuel pressure calibration table to what you are going to run in your maps. Then open your map you have currently for your p28 ecu. Copy paste the ignition and fuel maps into the p72 program. That should work without a hitch.

Ack, I've tried everything!!!
Has anyone ever done this before.....had a car running a nice tuned P28 and switched the maps and ECU over to a P72? The car still won't run, I start getting into boost and it runs like a$$....can't tell if it's fuel or timing or what, it just won't go anywhere....
I'm getting new injectors, but that means I'll have to run on this unboostable setup until my new injectors come in and we retune it (probably like 2-3 weeks), because we have too many other cars we need to tune (I can't run around with the wideband again to fix this GSR ecu)........
Any more ideas?
Thanks!
Brian

Bizzy Bizzy Bizzump!
Also, does anyone know anything about cutting jumper J12 for the s200 setup? What does J12 do?

How are you converting it...and what version of software are you using.

I've tried converting it every possible way:
P28 v2.5 -> P72 v2.5 -> P72 v3.0
P28 v2.5 -> P28 v3.0 -> P72 v3.0

And I still get the same results. I'm running V3 of all the software, soon to update to V3.1
We played around with it last night to make sure everything seemed right (map values, etc) after the conversions, and it did. We went ahead and made a P28 v2.5, P28 v3.0, and P72 v3.0 version and put them each in their own ECU (the v3 ecu's had the cut J12 jumper and the s200 box attached) and the only one that works correctly is the P28 v2.5 ecu and rom.......even the P28 v3.0 rom has the same issues as using the P72 (even though it only underwent a single change from v2.5 to v3)....which makes me think the software is incorrectly changing the rom from a v2.5 to a v3.....
Any ideas? This is driving me fricking crazy......

If i was in your shoes, i'd give hondata a call. Any time i have problems i give them a call, they help me out. They will know exactly what is going on, or can at least find out from Doug.
