Default Honda OEM MAP sensor question

How does the OEM MAP sensor read pressure? Does it automatically scale for altitude? For instance, in denver Atm. is 12.2 PSI, as opposed to 14.7. SO, would the ECU see 2.5 PSI of boost as atmospheric in denver, since 12.2+ 2.5PSI = 14.7? or does it automatically calibrate itself to detect what the atmospheric pressure is in any given area?
