HELP: Rod bearings?
I wonder if anyone here has some picture of a spun rod bearing?
I don't really know if my LS has a spun rod bearing or not but 1 of them look a little darker than the others. Since I'm going to put new OEM pistons, rods, rings should I replace all rod bearings? Is there any tip or something to look for while installing new rod bearings?
TIA

You should know when you spin a rod bearing when it happens. Anyway, if you are rebuilding, I'd replace them all.

Are the bearings destroyed? Then you spun one. They are supposed to wear... you can tell from the color of the bearing surface how far down they are worn.

They all look pretty normal just one of them looks a little darker than others.
So, basically I just replace them all? Oh, where to find the color code of the bearing?

The edges have the color of the bearing. If you can't tell, then you can use the markings on the crank to discern the rod journal sizes... and you can find the size or your rod big end (usually stamped on the side for stock rods, 1,2,3, or 4). Then use a helms manual to choose the right bearing thickness for the combination.
Or you can just measure the clearances with plastigauge to begin with (use plastigauge after to make sure they are right anyways!)
If you are changing rods then you will probably need different bearings... although some motors have the same size rods across the board I have seen odd ones (like 2 2 3 2 etc)
