Icon5 Help please

I have a turbocharged 2000 civic si the other day while driving it started making a slight ticking noise and then a loud bang which caused the car to jerk and then died when started back it is making a loud knocking and is not running rite at all. Any ideas on what may have happened and why also if I end up needing an engine replacement what would be the best option a new b16 a used one possibly a different engine such as a b18? I'm open to any advice as I am new to the tuner world and almost completely ignorant thanks.

I think a rod or rods said "Eff it, I quit.." Without asking any further information on this, I would say you're current engine is toast due to a broken connecting rod. I am sure somebody may pipe up with more probing questions.

What's your budget like? If dropping 2-3k won't make you sweat, B swap is good. I'd look toward B18C, BUUUUUT i'm doing some research on all that myself and seem a bit biased to THAT particular option.

I agree, sound like this motor has been killed by boost. But this would need some teardown or at least some testing to i.d. exactly that happened.

If you are not one to want to build a motor, I would start looking for a B swap. This would be the easiest way.

As for what B swap...there are a million opinions on this, so you will have to decide this one for yourself with research

Keep the head and valve cover whatever you do! They're valuable.
Anything that isnt trashed.
Including tranny.
Even if mechanic says it's trashed, actually. Take it home and examine parts yourself, don't let them have anything.
