Well, I need to weld another oil drain bung into another oil pan for my turbo setup.. Im going to try everything that all of you said and practice on some pieces of scrap metal that have I have laying around.. If I have problems ill take pics of it and post them, Maybe you all can tell from what you see in the pics what the problem is then.. Thanks to everyone that helped me out..

did you clean the surfaces before welding?

nobody seems to have mentioned that... you should clean/wirewheel/sand whatever before welding...

You are right, galvanized is the dangerous stuff. Still, adequate ventilation is required. The smoke is not good to inhale.

BTW-removal of the aluminized layer makes the wled much less prone to cracking.

Going to get new wire tonight and try my hand at it.. Wish me luck.. If it doesnt work im gonna say **** it and take it to an exhaust shop to do..

Don't take it to a shop... just do some practice pieces before you start in on your final piece, and stick with it It's almost always better to DIY!
