Help on my ECU please?!
I'm gonna be running a D16Z6 with between 7-8 pounds of boost and I need to figure out what program to run. People have told me to run Hondata S300 or crome.. Any one got some suggestions or know where I can get the program at a fair price?
Depends on the money you wanna spend. If you wanna do it right and have a great program, run hondata s300 or ectune. If money is a concern, then crome is a free program and a great choice for a mild power level. Who are you getting to tune the car?
Neptune hands down the best program I have used for the price http://www.hrtuning.com/

I'm not sure who I'm gonna have do my tuning. I live in vermont and from I hear, there's no one in vermont that does tuning. I also heard that if I run an FMU I should be fine without tuning as long as I don't run more then 7lbs worth of boost. That true?
Check out the Tuner Directory, maybe you can find something close enough.

In no particular order Hondata s300, Neptune rtp, ectune with an ostrich or deamon, Crome pro gold with an ostrich
personally I'd run the s300 cause it's what I like and very user friendly but so is Neptune and ectune just don't cAre for having to use an ostrich or deamon I like simple ready to go packages there usually less headache. I've tuned on s300 Crome pro Neptune and tinkered with ectune. Aside from Crome the rest are all comperable

So should I ditch the FMU? or could I get away with running it untill I can get one of the programs? I'll be lucky if I push 8lbs worth of boost to start. Or would the amount of boost I'm pushing matter when it comes to an FMU?
My advice would be to talk with your tuner and find out what they use. It all comes down to what they feel the most comfortable with. We use Hondata S300 and Neptune here at the shop most of the time. If you are looking to use something less expensive then Chrome is another choice. The FMU should go in the garbage, I am sure that you can get a basemap from someone that will be safe to run the motor until you can get it tuned just make sure they put a boost cut on the program.
Ok. Cuz I've been told I could run a max of 5lbs on stock ecu and fuel pump and that it would be a good idea to run an fmu just to be safe. The person who I was told by said that i would run a little on the lean side as far as fuel goes, but they said I could get by like that for a little while.
