Help me choose..
Hey guys I'm new to the site and thought I would ask some of you experts out there for some help. I'm looking to do an engine swap in my 99 civic. Now i've heard 3 different opinions about what i'm looking to do. I was originally looking at getting a B18c GSR OBD2 and putting a turbo on it.
Now one of my friends said that turboing a Honda motor is stupid because you will get about 10,000 miles out of it before she blows up, another friend told me to get a B18B from an LS if I want to turbo because the B18c has too high of compression. Last and not least I talked to a guy from the company I plan on buying my motor from and he told me that the B18C from the GSR would be great with a turbo, but stay away from the B18C from the Type R for that engine has too high of compression.
Being kinda new to the 4 cyclinder world, i'm looking for more help. The price difference between the B18B and the B18C is $800. Also i'm stuck on the RIGHT turbo for me. Been looking at GReddy and HKS but not sure.
Thanks ahead of time for any responses.

Well, an obd2 ECu is definately the wrong way to go. you cannot tune with that ECU except for E-manage.
B18C is fine for turbocharger without changing compression, provided that it is tuned correctly, in which no matter what the compression is, if it is done badly, it won't last.
A type R can be just as fun...
Narrow down the number of 'people' that you're referring to for advice. They are all having different opinions from little experience.

Whats your goals for this car? autocross? drag? parking lot queen with lots of bling?
What kind of numbers do you want to produce?
Turbo hondas are just as reliable as any other turbo car that is properly built and properly tuned. if you half *** it and put a fmu on there, then yes it will blow. probaly in less then 10,000 miles
