HELP LS turbo motor smoking.
Ok i installed my ls turbo for almost a month now. I been having problems with it. Fixed most of the problem but this one i cant figure out what is wrong with it. From inside my motor it is blowing out a lot of white smoke. If i hit the gas more white smoke shoots out. The check engine light just flew on today and the code was 73 which is random misfire cylinder 3. What can be the problem and how can i fix it. Please help.

white smoke from the muffler would be head gasket right
if its a mis fire it could be detonation or pre ignition i dunno

is it coming from your valve cover? cuz if so its blowby. check your compression across all four cylinders. maybe your ringlands cracked.

the tune should fix the misfiring problem. there are numbers of problems that are fixed when the motor is tuned correctly. for example, with the greddy blue box i threw the misfire codes too and after ditching that box to get a tune, no more misfires to expect. the ignition, fuel, and timing is adjusted correctly to your set-up after a good dyno tune.

white smoke = blown headgasket, dun't hesitate at all and fix that problem ASAP before your motor goes. a compression test and leakdown test would target the problem easier
if you still having problems, let me kno. im local to san diego too. another LS turbo

white smoke? i had that same problem... did a compression check, it was the piston ring. Hope its not your piston ring... Good luck.

ringlands and rings causes black smoke from oil. the white smoke with a tint of blue is from the gasket.
remove your exhaust manifold as well and check for oil in the manifold. if so, then the rings/ringlands are bout to go

Re: HELP LS turbo motor smoking. (JDM turbo DC)
Just took apart my manifold yesterday and everything was fine. I drove the car before and everything seemed fine. Just now it has been throwing out a lot of white smoke out of the vaulve cover. Car still drives but just spits out a lot of white smoke. Before a lot of white smoke came out of the exhaust but that stoped and this started a day later.

Re: HELP LS turbo motor smoking. (wes7side5o)
Are you at least running the GSS342 Walbro? I really always suggest using the Bosch inline with an FMU. They tend to work better at the high pressures. Although this doesn't answer your question, it may be part of the cause.

Re: HELP LS turbo motor smoking. (TurboInteg95)
It's wierd for the head gasket to blow or the rings to crack because the motor was just rebuilt to new. We bought and replaced everything inside of it. Everything was fine until we installed the turbo.

exactly, this topic has been covered thousands of times. smoke out of your valve cover on a stock motor with a bad fuel setup, untuned will be broken ringlands 99% of the time
Boost doesnt kill your motor, detonation does and with yours i guess 5psi is all it took. goodluck!

I was just going to tune it but first i had white smoke leaking out of the manifold area then just fixed that. Then found out i had a 5 psi spring not a 9 so i was waiting for the 9 psi spring to come in. Then I had the problem where the turbo wasnt boosting right. So then i just fixed tat. Was going to tune it in a week once spring comes in but not i got this problem to deal with. What can be a good fuel setup because i was told wat i had was a good setup already????

ditch the FMU and missing link and get some bigger injectors (440cc,550cc,etc) and look into getting hondata or EMS if you have the money or FREEware like Crome, uberdata, neptune

Re: HELP LS turbo motor smoking. (wes7side5o)
Honestly the misfire code is the least of your problems right now. Although i guess technically it could cause that. Either way, ditch that fmu. FMUs + Walbro pumps = no good.
