Default help on junkyard project...EXPERIENCE needed!!!

alright well i've done a search and read a lot of posts.
what i still don't understand is what's the bother.

<u>this is what i HAVE</u>
Saab T3 turbo mounted to HF manifold
DSM side mount intercooler
DSM bov
T3 oil lines with the flanges
misc. lines and fittings

<u>and i read that this is what i need to make it "reliable"</u>:
fuel pump, 440cc injectors, fuel rail (to handle injectors), apex-i safc (at least), boost guage, air/fuel guage, oil pressure guage, and a turbo timer.

i add all that stuff up (according to prices from http://www.optauto.com&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;A HREF="http://www.importparts.com" TARGET="_blank"&gt;http://www.importparts.com ) that i "need" and it comes to another $1100.

so my question is, why don't people just go out and buy a Greddy kit (~1400-1500) and use some junkyard intercooler? at least with the kit you can bolt it on and go have fun. all this fuel **** is intimidating me. so what is the BARE MINIMUM i could add to what i HAVE already to make it (the setup/my motor) last for more than a week??? i mean it's only a ZC and's cheap to replace, but i'm broke, and everything i already have for this turbo deal, i got for free. and i don't have much money to waste. actually no money to waste.

anybody have any insight on this???
btw: i posted this in the EF forum as well, so i appologize if you've read it already.

With any turbo kit you're going to need gauges to monitor your fuel and boost. I reccomend an EGT, Fuel pressure, and boost gauge. Also, try the SMC https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=279803...that will save you from buying a $300 VAFC. With the SMC get some 450cc DSM injectors, resistors, and an intank fuel pump. That should cost you $300 or less...the price of your VAFC.

Edit *Oh by the way...I just realized it said experience needed...I lack that. I'm sure rjardy or a million other people will chime in if I'm dead wrong.

cheapest fuel setup:
12:1 FMU, inline fuel pump, missing link
should run about $200. this is basically what comes in the drag turbo kit.

could you explain for me what the "missing link" is?

also, what does it take to get the bigger injectors in a honda (ZC in my case) fuel rail?

Get DSM injectors they go right in. I'm rinning the VAFC on my B16 NA with DSM 440s and it runs great. I plan on doing the same to my d15b2 in my hatch, after mpfi swap. Untill I get the 2.0liter done. For decent power and decent boost go AFC with 440 DSMs. FMU's are sorry and just boost the pressure and eventually can make your injectors float, if pressure rises too much. Greddy, and Drag kits come with FMU's because they are cheap and sufficient for low boost. Still stand alones are golden.

A missing link tricks your oem map sensor from seeing boost. This can be accomplished by getting check valves off of early accords at a junk yard for much cheaper. Like free. All you need to do is bleed the boost off, before the map sensor.
