Default help with greddy turbo

ok, im newbie at this, so bear with me. i have a gsr greddy turbo kit with intercooler. on the turbo, there's the rigth side which looks all red and rusty, then there's teh shiny side that looks like metallish. on the metallish side, there's a yellow thingy on it that supposedly im suppose to connect a vacumn line to it, but the thing the vacumn line's suppose to connect to (the male end of the yellow thing) is broken off. is there a quick fix, or somewhere i can go to replace it?? i'll post pics later tonite when i get off school. it's hard to explain it =/
Help me, im lost sleep thinking bout it last nite,
-Huy

ok, so the nipple on ur wastegate has broken off. i dunno if u can get it welded back on or not, it is quite a small item but it could possibly be done by a skilled welder. just make sure that hole doesnt get blocked or plugged up. as a last resort u could replace the internal wg or get one off a junker

If you cant find the part, you could always get a Tap set. Drill then tap the hole. Put in a NPT fitting of the appropriate size. Seal the threads with some good high heat silicone.
Rather "ghetto" approach, but if it works, then go 4 it.

by the way, what does the yellow thing do anyway? it seems to be hollow, and one end is connect via a metal pole to the turbo. if i get a new one, can i just bolt it somewhere else instead of on the turbo?

You dont need it, just run without it hooked up. It'll help you get more boost!

it's a vacuum diaphram. vac/boost pressure moves the little diaphram inside which moves the rod and opens/closes the wastegate 'trap door' to regulate boost.

hope that helps

Word. You seem like WAAYYY too much of a turbo n00b to be boosting your ****. I researched for a YEAR before I boosted mine a month ago, and since I installed it myself, I feel that if anything is wrong with the turbo setup I should be able to at least diagnose it myself, if not fix it.

RESEARCH!
