Default head porting question about finish

just wondering, i was reading endyn's b16 head porting write-up and i saw that the finish between a carbided port and a mirror finish port are the same. i just got my head back and it has that finish that is smooth to the fingers but not to the eyes. do you guys think i should get it smoothed out some more? it flowed 270 at 28". this was the first honda head the guy has did. he is used to doing grand national heads.

^ Like this guy said, exhaust or intake? Intakes can have a slightly rougher texture to them to aid in fuel atomization. In addition, airflow has a boundary layer which is very slow moving along the surface. Therefore, true airflow through the port doesn't necessarily contact the walls.

Exhaust on the other hand should be very smooth to resist carbon buildup and restriction of the port.

Intake = rougher
Exhaust = mirror
