Default head gasket questions

i have a b18c1 block with a b16 head, i had a cometic gasket and blew when i hit the dyno. the gasket was brand new. i guess i didnt tq it down enough. well im planning to go with a oem one and my question is are the b16 and the b18c1 HG the same? i have a hook up with a guy from honda and was going to get a 99-00 si HG instead of the GSR one i got from cometic.

other question is my bore size is 81.5 will i have to bore out the oem one or can i just throw it on?

last, i tq the last time to 65 with lube. b/c im trying to go with high boost should i tq to 75-80?

thanks in advance

Default Re: head gasket questions (W.Zero)

Use the B16 headgasket. OEM gaskets are 81.5mm from the factory so no boring is needed.

Torque the head in the correct order starting with 22ft/lbs, then 55ft/lbs and finally 80-82ft/lbs w/motor oil. If you use moly lube stop at 70ft/lbs.

You could aso use copper spray. Some people like it, others don't. I have put head gaskets in with and w/o it and had good results both ways.

Are you using ARP's or OEM bolts?
