head gasket to lower compression.....
I recently got the greddy D series kit working on my 98 civic ex, and it runs great. However im already looking to go a lil faster, and was wondering how well these thicker head gaskets work with turbos. I think i could get the compression down to about 8.9:1 or so with the thickest one. However, the thicker gaskets increase the quench size and i know that this increases chances for detonation.........just wondering if anyone has had any luck with head gaskets to lower compression, or if i just need to do pistons, figured id ask since the fmax kit comes with a thick gasket and lets you boost 13psi.......well any input wil be appreciated, thanks alot.
The thicker head gasket will lower your compression, however it should not increase your chances of detonation. In fact the thicker head gasket and lower compression do just the opposite (reduce your chances of detonation).
That is why FMAX sells it with their kit. It allows you to boost a little more without having to rebuild your whole motor.
