How do you plan on lowering compression with the stock headgasket????

I'm not sure I understand your question.

was gonna use a 30thousands shim on top of the head gasket to raise up the head alittle more instead of using 2 head gaskets or paying 100+ for a little thicker one then stock..

Oh I see. I missed the part about the shim there. I'm not really sure of anyone that has tried that with a D16 hg.

ok so you're not gonna use a HG? and use a "shim" instead?

I'll assume you mean to fit the shim between the layers of the OEM HG. because otherwise Expect a lot of headaches in your efforts to save a few $.

IMO do it right. Learn from other's mistakes, not yours

no no no....still gonna use the stock headgasket(it is new) but just had this shim laying around from a couple years ago for my old civic and i figured i would try it since i never did in my last car...they use them all the time on v8 junk and if i use head studs to keep the head from lifting under boost, it should be fine i would think....anyone out there ever used one on a d16 or any honda engine for that matter?

I would worry more about important things like tuning than a "head gasket shim" whatever that is...

machine shops use a head shim when they get a engine in and the head is warped but they can save it by shaving it down till its flat again and then using the shim to still get the clearance it needs while still using a regular head gasket...so in theory..i can still do this even though my head is still good.....so i can get the little bit lower compression ,without stacking 2 head gaskets....i dont look at it as a short cut...just another option thats all
