I have a 96 Civic Lx 4 door at my shop right now and I just had to share this. Perfect example of a turbo kit done wrong. Stock D16Y7 with really low compression best cylinder is 110psi and the pistions where installed backwards intake side to exhaust. Ebay turbo mani has been wielded a few times, T25 Garrett turbo that is too small, stock injectors and OBD2 ECU and here is the best part of it all.... no wastegate at all. Turbo is an internal gated turbo but it was removed and the flap was not wielded closed and there is not external wastegate so no way to control boost. The poor kid just bought it and got screwed. I hope to be putting in a JDM ZC non Vtec motor and putting it all back to stock or doing a B16 swap to it but we will see.

Bought the car like this. I will snap some pics and share them. It is sad and **** poor. I bet the old owner had no idea what he was doing and just got fed up with it and sold it. This thing is riced out, only nice thing on the car is the 99-00 Si cluster with 68,xxx miles which I am going to try and trade for some D series parts. I need that cluster I am actually DOHC Vtec.

That's what happens when these stupid uneducated kids want to buy cool cars but yet know absolutely nothing about what they're looking at. A friend of mine just bought a super cool Eclipse GS-X with a sweet pod pillar with digital gauges, 20g turbo upgrade, aftermarket ram horn, aftermarket wastegate, super fast speed! etc..

Clutch is burnt out, all ebay junk Dragon Gauges that don't read correctly, wired absolutely horribly, Red RTV on the block, turbo seal, wastegate seal, exhaust seal, all of the panel clips are broken, license plate literally screwed into the intercooler, wiring ******* everywhere, etc.

Kid is cool as can be, but don't get into the car scene acting like a naive bitch. Luckily I bought my car completely stock with a janky wired Viper ignition system, that's now fixed.

 

Agreed...research and knowledge is vital. Still a shame that there are ***holes out there who will rip kids off like that though.

Well, the outside is not that horrible.. The inside however, makes most want an orange CRUSH to drink.

As for the wastegate.. wow..simply wow.

Up close you can see the issues in the paint and body work. Shaved door handles where the bondo is cracking as well as the rear wing and side skirts, some orange peel and fish eyes in the paint. At one time it looked great I bet and could have won car shows in the mid to late 90's, wow I can believe some people liked that style. YEah the wastegate thing is a big WTF, cant believe it was sold like it is. I think the kid was raped on the price, I bet he paid $3000+. I will find out for sure once I talk to him and find out what we are going to do about this cluster ****.

I just had a flash back to 2001!!!

 

Well the kid came and picked it up after I explained everything that was wrong with the car. Of coarse he still wants to keep it turbo but I explained to him it would cost over $1000 to get the turbo kit up to spec. I told him to scrap everything and start with a good kit from GoAuto or something similar. As for the motor he has no idea what he wants to do. I suggested a B16 swap and he is thinking about it. So we will see what if anything happens with this. He paid $5000 for this POS.
