Default h22a4 cyllinder help!

hello
I have a h22a4 and am looking into boosting it soon. what im wondering is since the a4 is an open deck block, should i use a blockguard to toughen it up a bit? or should i sleeve the cylinders? both? is there any good pistons that wont scar up the cylinder walls like forged pistons do? i want to run about 15 psi.

Your coming at this all wrong. First off forget about the 15psi, its irrelevant. It's a matter of how much power you want to make; Without sleeving the motor, most I'd shoot for is ~340. But for anything more than that I would suggest getting the block sleeved (only way to use aftermarket pistons, besides mahle.) Oh yeah, ditch the blockguard idea

Right now I'm at 471/394, built block/stock head

a block guard is almost pointless sleeve your block. if you decide to sleeve it the H22A4 becomes a semi-closed deck and is pretty much bullet proof. as far as pistons i recommend cp or je.

thanks guys i think i might keep stock sleeves and get a set of mahles it seems like the most obvious solution.. yeah those numbers sound good mid to low 300 is more than enough
