H22 boosting
my friend is thinking about going turbo on his 94 prelude VTEC.
he doesn't don't have enough money to build the bottom and stuff, so he's not gonna be boosting more than 6-7lbs. does anyone here have any experience with turbo H22's? what turbo should he go for, what should we look out for? any problems? reliability issues?
the car has 64K miles on it...
budget: $4500. maybe some more coming.
thanx for any input

Re: H22 boosting (hybrid_eg)
from what i hear the h22 has problems with the ringlands. i would say buy forged pistons. But you can't put forged pistons on a h22 without sleevin it. you might also want to upgrade your fuel system.

Everyone I talked t said you have to resleeve the block, except for two Eip tuning and Importbuilders.com. They both said they have turbo h22's that didn't get resleeved. EIP has a project Prelude that's built w/o being resleeved using forged pistons and Importbuilders said they have done a couple of customer cars that didn't get resleeved and use forged pistons. I am still trying to figure out if I want to try their setup w/o resleeving or just spending the money that I don't have on resleeving it. What to do!

i wouldn't drive a EIP car if it was the last car on earth. (well, maybe their awd turbo vw......that was pretty fast)
inlinepro put a stock h22 in a full interior integra, added a headgasket and custom turbo kit and went 11.90's. that was 3-4 years ago. also built a civic with stock h22 motor, headgasket, and turbo kit that pushed 400+ hsp to the wheels. gutted, ran 10.40's on stock axles and 17lbs of boost. 3 years ago. give them a call. they have experience with the h22. they dropped one in my friends 94 accord, boosted it, and it runs 10 lbs of boost on pump gas daily. stock block.
