H22 boost...JDM or USDM?
I'm gonna go through with teh h22 swap that turbo it for teh dummer to cool me off...
I have a choice between the JDM(10.6:1) and the USDM(10.0:1)...
JDM makes 10 more horses and 5 more ft/lb
JDM: 200hp 161tq
USDM: 190hp 156tq
do you guys think it would really matter? Is .6 more compression really gonna hurt that much? I mean, ITR's are boosted, but they can probably hold more boost than h22a's though

yes the h22-r is 225.
Paul I would go with the jap spec motor just from my
observation with all these jap specs that I have seen much more sturdy
for all motor or boost. The pistons arent domed that much more on the
jap spec and should be fine. just my 2 cents good luck man-pdang

jap spec obd 1 is the way to go. Its a closed deck block. we have made 667hp on our block with just cheap 200.00 sleeves. the block is solid. by the way we sell them 1100.00+ shipping. Thats motor only.

I'm looking for a sfull swap and was gonna pick it up from HMO
or the full front clip form Jspec
the thing I'm wondering is...is that would it be worth the trouble of having a full front clip and ripping the motor out of there when it gets here. It's only and extra 50 bucks from Jspec

usdm. if your going to do a boosted h22 right, you will need to rebuild and change everything that is different on the 2. so use the money saved on it to rebuild it. h22a1 is usdm closed deck.
btw- i have an h22 4 sale, link below

we are running sleeves from autoraceparts.com. they are ARI sleeves. remember you cannot run an aftermarket JE piston on an h22 w/o sleeves.

?
HOw do you like them? How long have you had them in the motor?
I was thinking about those too since I've bought form ARI in the past and had great service towards me...
have you ever tried GE or Darton? HOw would you compare the ARI sleeves to these 2 companies

the jdm pistons are noticibly weaker than their usdm counterparts. Ring lands are smaller...I'd go with the usdm personally.

I would say for a closed deck block they would work as good as darton or ge for the most part. if it was an open deck i would probably go with darton or ge. we have had them in our motor for more than 4 events and have boosted 30+psi on them.

ringlands are equally weak on the jdm and usdm motors. this is the weak link of the h series motors. the rings and ringlands. the ringlands will crack like pretzels as many boosted h22a owners have found out.
but the jdm spec motor is a far better choice for an n/a set-up until the summer when you go boost. then you can rebuild at that time. i'd go with the jdm motor if possible.
4th gen. preludes with bolt-ons, clutch, flywheel have been known to go 14 flat in the quarter mile or very close to with a jdm motor.
