Icon7 GT35R ls/vtec progress thread

New to Honda-tech!
Just finished re-building my head (p72-2) with gsr intake valve springs on both intake and exhaust side with 3 angled gsr valves and stock gsr cams.

Just to show you what I'm working with..

About 3 months ago, now has lump in hood to clear turbo.

Quarter panel replacement, antenna shave and full paint (roughly 3 years ago)

Had bottom end built with stock sleeve and bore (1 year ago)
Wiseco pistons 8.7:1 pistons, Eagle H-Beam rods, Eagle 4340 crank.

basically it's current state.. (p72-1 head) about 2 months ago before i had to pull head off due to head gasket failure caused by letting somebody else install. Also in picture exhaust welds werent done either (obviously).

Roughly between 450-515whp. I really don't want to stress those sleeves.
Transmission is out of my '96 GSR. It's solid I just don't know how those original syncros are going to hold. Has Comp Stg.4 clutch/500hp axles.

No power yet. Litteraly Just got the car running again 3 days ago.
Thanks to a headgasket leak and over tightened cam shaft due to letting somebody else do my install.. This time I did it, no leaks, just works.
Plan on only running 93 octane but I would like to have methanol injection come spring time when I get a real tune. (winter in NY)
friend from Texas is coming up to help me work out little kinks and stuff along with a street tune so I can actually Do a break in before we get salt flying.
Motor only has about a half mile on it.

Nice setup. But Kinda concerned is that rubber hose used for fuel feed line and hose clamps? I hope thats not permanent.

ehh. never had a problem running rubber lines before except for way back when I had an FMU. I'd like stainless but I can't really afford now. It's all fuel line and high pressure clamps..

Holy low compression batman. Nice looking build but which such a low CR? 9.5:1 would have been safe and gotten you a bit better performance IMO

Slightly depending on how many times this head has been plained.

in for updates. i'm doing a boosted ls/vtec setup. just a question on that flange for the turbo, does it bolt down to the existing t4 setup? i'm going with a t4 manifold for future turbo upgrade but i'm going to be running a smaller turbo on the stock block so i was wandering if that flange just bolts down and u don't have to weld it.

Everything bolts. The flange simply has extra holes to fit t3 also.

thanks man, but It's far from perfect.

Valves are making noise.. (never adjusted) So I'm waiting on Christmas to bring me my b series adjustment set from Honda. Really didn't want to do timing again.

Christmas is a wonderful thing.. AEM Uego Wideband & Hondata 4Bar map sensor.
Have to test and pull out old wideband and if fixed I can have one for my '00 Si.
Matching Energy Suspension Master kit for the '00 on the way. Thinking about taking car up to Innovative for them to finish up..

Hoping for some drivable weather soon but its all snow up here.

Just got my sparco harnesses and am waiting for full front black carpet and a B&R fitting catch can return back kit. probably going to put on the road with in the next month so I can drive it whenever I get a chance (like up to innovative tuning). Still haven't adjusted valves either..
