Default GT3567r with Nitrous Dyno

Went to a local Mustang dyno to see what the civic could put down.

the top line is the 24psi with nitrous pass of 624/389. the other is the 28psi line without spray, 574/325. These are corrected for weather, etc. Uncorrected was 658/40x and 598/34x.

I was happy with the results, although I was surprised by the lack of torque, guess I need to throw more timing at it. These numbers were to do a before and after, I'm going to go to COP to remove the MSD pro-distributor and hondata ecu. So M&W Pro14, AEM EMS and hopefully the new AEM EPS. So i'll be sure to attempt to fine tune items a bit more once the new electronics go into play.

setup is pretty easy:
ERL b16 superdeck 2
GT3567r with 1.06ar
CP pistons (84mm)/Manley Rods. GSR crank
Supertech .5mm over valves with CTR cams
VictorX Intake, 68mm TB, 2.5in charge pipe
Full-race manifold, 4in downpipe, 4in aluminum exhaust
hondata s200 v4 tuned by myself
80 shot of nitrous through a wet system
Bosch -044 fuel pump, 1000cc injectors

AVC-R for boost control, which gets amazingly flakey

This was one of those attempting to be artistic moments.

This was with the skunk2 intake manifold with the nitrous lines ontop:

Is that the rev limit on your graph sheet, or does it rev higher? Either way, anything 10K and higher is SCREAMING SEX TO THE EARS

haha,

If you notice in the first picture there is another civic in the background, that's my new k20r EG that i'm turning into a road race car. I'll be removing the suspension off of the turbo car and putting a set of Omni's on it. I had a set of Koni 'race' with custom ground control springs on it. They just didn't work as well as I'd like, so I'm going to move to a proven system with the omni suspension. Just need to buy the rear drag shocks.

and yes, I was amazed by how well that 80shot kicks the car in the ***, wasn't expecting that huge of an increase in the mid-range.

Anyone else think the torque seems low? Maybe i'm just so used to seeing these gt40 or other t4 based turbos make torque.

Rev limitor is set to 9,850. The graph is a few rpms off. We were having a hard time getting RPM pickup with the distributor, so switched over to roller speed and matched the computer's rpms to my laptops rpms. I've always been afraid to rev past 10k without really researching what the supertech valvetrain is rated too. Plus what kind of impact that could have on my bearings with the nitrous spraying. I have considered taking it up to a 125 shot though Figure might as well test that ERL 5pt girdle.

its always easy to say that when its not your motor. i personally start to become slightly a ***** once my **** it on the dyno. then again i have been through more motors than i care to comment on...

there is a ERL h22a here that I've tuned that currently is running the same turbo with a 125 shot. The 2.3l engine spools the turbo in the late 4k range and add in the nitrous and its a stupid amount of power.

Although consistency is a pain with keeping the temp up, etc but nitrous is a hell of alot of fun.

Supertech .5mm oversized valves with supertech springs and titanium retainers. CTR cams.

I think you'd be fine with a 100 shot, but I suspect a 125 might choke the flow across the turbine. That's a pretty good sized hotside, so I may be wrong. It won't hurt anything if you do choke, your AFRs just go full rich and you rich misfire in the 400-something whp range.

Did you have much of a problem with wheelspin? 600-650+ on a FWD on a cold day seems to be the limit for the dyno I normally use, it's been a year since I've been on a Mustang and I've never had a car of your's caliber on one. I'm middling curious about how the different roller design worked for you.

i probably had 10-15 pulls before we turned on the bottle, so by that time we had the drag radials well warmed up. Also dropped the pressure down to 25 in each tire and checked them regularly to keep them consistent. As we turned on the bottle, we started doing back to back pulls to keep the tires hot so wheel spin didn't happen. It was around 40 degrees though, so in the beginning, we drove the car on the rollers for 5 minutes just get everything up to temp. This dyno had the center pull system installed on it.

We have another mustang dyno locally which has the 2 wheel version and AWD version. they will only let FWD cars on the AWD dyno. I've even ran slicks on that dyno and never had traction with the AWD rollers.

I would like to see what the car would do on a dynojet to see if there is a difference, but this dyno is one of the easiest and has traction.

I know what you mean. I keep wanting to take the Great WNC Dyno Tour to compare various local dynos back to back, but I can't find anybody who's willing to pay for the dyno time.

i compared the local dynojet to the regional dyno dynamics with the same car setup. Dyno Dynamics was exactly 23% lower than the dynojet.

what kind of torque numbers where you expecting? did you do any cam timing adjustment during the tune? they arn't that bad.

that big of a back side with a decent amount of overlap will kill torque pretty bad.

didn't do any cam tuning, since i'll be changing standalones, so its still at 0,0. I kind of figured 350-400lbs of torque based on what i've seen of others, but its no huge deal.
