I searched and there are a bunch of posts of non-ball bearing turbo shaft play. Looking at buying a used gt30 and can move the shaft both directions in terms of in and out and left to right, not a lot, but some. The wheels still spin well and don't contact either housing. I've only delt with non-ball bearing and want to make sure this thing is in good shape before I buy. Thanks.

 

Doesnt sound bad. It'll tighten up as soon you hit it with some oil pressure.
