GSR should be faster, but it all depends on what car you want. The 1.8 from the gsr is going to work much better stock for stock against the 1.6.

um.. yeah. both motors can make more power than you can use on a street car

I bet $10,000 you are no where near the limits of your 1.8

more power for what price? im just simply stating that a 1.8 ltr powerplant would be a better choice.

for what price? there parts cost the same for both motors. the b16 may or may not need to run more boost to make the same power. either way, u dont have an advantage with a b18. in a street car when fwd's lack of traction owns you.

its like lets spend 1k more for a b18c because theoretically that 20% increase in displacement will be worth it when your trying to build a 700hp daily driver as opposed to 690hp [/loads of sarcasm]

im just curious, but which one would u choose considering that they may be around the same price range depending on what year the gsr?

bigger bores prove to have more low end out of the box.

b16's and b18's have the same bore its the stroke thats longer on a b18c. as for your question I would chose either. I dont prefer one over the other for my goals. which is to be a really fast street car. best tir eI can get for a daily driver are BFG drag radials, and I have a big enough turbo and fuel system to light those up on either motor.

people need to stop acting like the 10mm difference in stroke of both motors is night and day like the difference between a small block and big block chevy. .2 litres OMG!!

ok u know what, delete my first post i take it back. its really a personal preference toward teh direction u want to choose w/ ure engine. as far as forced induction goes, they are both potent engines. im not a hater on b16s because id rather have a b16 turbo over my ls turbo. but MY preference, im sure u can see why i sed the 1.8 gsr turbo would be my choice over the 1.6 b16a turbo

I got one in 01 for $18,000 from the dealer

and one for $14,000 two years ago from a private party.

I'm sure you can find one for $11,000 nowadays, search autotrader.

Make no mistake, 10mm worth of stroke makes PLEANTY of difference when you're talking about a measly 1.6L worth of displacement.

Drive a larger turbo B16 then a larger turbo B18, period.

ive driven both..not the HUGE difference that people like to make it out to be. is there a diff? yes but its not earth shattering, like your jumping into a v8 powered car or something

i agree with boostage.

in your case I would do WHATEVER the cheapest route is!(cheapest car)

so most likely the gsr.

at the end of the day it really doesnt make much difference.

you can go just as fast in one as you can in the other!

Here's an Si for sale. Don't know if it's in your area or not but expect to pay around this price for a used Si, depending on mileage.

Heres another for around the same price:

Exactly. There is a slight noticable difference but not by much.
