GSR cams to ITR
You realize how much power you are gonna let sit on the table because you cant rev higher even though those cams will make more power?
Is $150-$250 really THAT much more money considering the payoff?
Even just to be safe I would upgrade the springs...not worth floating a valve on old GSR springs...fresh springs while you are in there and inspect the rest of the valve train for wear too. Not trying to be a **** or anything but seriously...just dont cheap out on valve train...I'm all for triple coupon Thursdays but on valvetrain...dont skimp.
An ounce of prevention...
The itr's have dual springs much like aftermarket springs.
Your redline will be the same i guarantee you that just about 8,200 rpm, most cams from bc3+ to sk2 pro 1 cams on my all motor builds never made power past 8,400 rpm.
With either cam in n.a you wont make power past that rpm unless the build acomadates your aftermarket cam.
The itr cam will make a bit more power through out the power band and i believe you will be safe if your tunner sets redline at around the stock limits, with adjustable cam gears you will be able to dial the cams in.
If there available get em!, theres tools to remove your springs with the head on the car if you dont want to take the head off to remove the springs. but having the matching springs to any style cam is always recomended by the cam shaft manufacture. this isnt always the case for instance sk2 said it was o.k to run there pro1+ cams on the reg. sk2 springs and ret. only the pro2 cams require the pro series springs and retainers.
if your head is ported i would recomend running the itr's, but if its a mild set up with mostly bolt ons other than the itr cams than you should be o.k. if you plan running a turbo or blower than get the springs!
