Hey guys I just got my BOV welded for 30.00!! Hells Yeah!! Anyway, the guy said it might be "hard" so Im assuming I adjust the screw on the top of the BOV to make it "softer".
On the drive home it worked well, but I still heard and felt the air surcharge and bounce back and hit the compressor of the turbo. Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks!

come on guys!! IF someone has the same setup, approx how far is the threaded screw sticking out, that would give me a good place to start.
Also I was playing with the Throttle cable when I was attempting to tune it and I saw the valve open, but not all the way up, is is supposed to do that?
Maybe I should have it on a dedicated VAC line, not from a "T"?

this is the best way i found to adjust the type-s
have someone hold down the throttle cable or pedeal to about 2.5k rpms...take your hand and feel if there is any air coming in or out of the bov. make adjustments until you no longer feel air coming in or out...tighten bolt and that point. Take it for a test spin..no more surcharge...if so recheck again and make adjustments.

so If I follow those instructions I should have no surcharge what so ever?
Its kinda hard to feel if somethings coming out of the BOV cause I have air constantly moving with in the engine.

hmmm funny i found this post... i've been wondering how is the best way to "tune" the bov cause I was messing w/ it last nite but it was sounding funky
I think the spring on my bov took some breaking in, but I have an Apexi bov. I am in the process of adjusting my bov too. I loosened it out all the way until I was leaking boost and then have been gradually tightening it down. I think I'm still getting some compressor surge though when letting off the throttle when my boost gauge reads around 0. I hear a fluttering sound instead of the normal single shot of air. Is that what the surge sounds like?

Hmm, it sounds like an HKS bov almost, hehe. I think it might be just the way my bov is though. When boosting low, like <3psi, it will flutter a couple times then make a single venting air sound. My instructions that came w/ the bov say to unscrew the thing until you hear air coming out under idle. But I could never get it to bleed air at idle so I just loosened it and drove until I knew I was leaking boost. Then tightened it until I wasn't leaking boost anymore..Maybe I should try adjusting it by the book again and see what happens. Thx.
