Greddy Sohc OVERHEATING !!! HELP Please !!
Hey guys...
I have no idea why it's overheating..
I only boosted ONCE....
then I stopped after around 5 mins, waiting for my cousin at his school...
I didn't turn off my car
Once my cousin is out, I drove away, THEN i realized my tempature meter was at the RED line....
I pulled over, turned off my car, poped my hood, nothing is wrong, the anti-freeze is not bubbling... but the anti-freeze reservior is 2/3 full.....It's obviously that the engine hot...
Then I NEEDED to go home which takes around 30 mins, i turned my heat ALL the way up.... after around 5 mins, the temp goes back to normal...
I keep my heat ON, temp still stays at normal....
now I am home, turned off my car, wait for a while, then pop my hood up to check what's going on..
what is the problem??
help please !!

well if its not coming back, i would say that its posible that you had a vapor lock and for a few minutes the motor might not have been getting the coolant that it needed, best thing to do at this point is just keep an eye on it.

Maybe your fan didn't kick in. See if your fan come on and if it doesn't fix it. Or you could hook up a switch so it stays on all the time.

This happens to me all the time, I think the problem may be where the temperature gauge senor is located. If nothing is coming out of your cooling system then technically you should be good cuz the stock radiator cap releases pressure at 11psi i think. Also my fan doesn't run when this happens but then i check the fan circuit and its fine. It also happened to me when the car was REALLY overheating from a leaking HG and when i popped my hood it was boiling like crazy and forced a lot of coolant out of it. I just need to travel with one of those infrared thermometers so i can check the temp of the cylinder head, block and radiator when it happens again.
