Default Greddy Blue Box or AFC hack

Just picked up a DOHC greddy kit and I am already thinking about ditching the blue box and going with the AFC hack because of the negative publicity surrounding that box - CEL's, too rich, etc. Is it all true?

Instead of running the blue box with the 310cc injectors, should I go with the AFC hack with 450cc injectors?

if you're sticking with stock boost for a bit, just run the blue box. It's not entirely bad. i should be hating on it since I was sent a defective one that couldn't even be fixed by GReddy, but whatever. just use it. It works alright for what it is.

Are you running the sohc kit? I've read good things about the blue box that came with the sohc kit, but the problems seem to be associated with the one that comes with the dohc kit, which i will be running.

yeah, i have the SOHC kit. the blue box WAS working fine until i found out it wasn't flashed for VTEC x-over. it threw me into limp mode everytime i hit VTEC. GReddy couldn't fix it. i've heard bad things about the DOHC blue box, also, but i also heard that despite the CELs, performance isn't affected. a lot of DOHC owners said they just learn to live with an orange light on their dash. No one complained of limp mode or anything. but i have no experience with the DOHC blue box, just going by what i've read on other message boards.

yes, hondata would be nice, but cost is a factor. I already have a s-afc laying around; All that's needed are injectors and I'm set.

Now another question - does the AFC hack affect how the car will smog when tested?

Assuming you can't run Hondata which would b my #1 choice bar-none, the AFC hack would be the one I'd use personally.

I've expereienced FMU + AFC vs. Hack, and the hack was worlds better than the FMU ever was. I know the bluebox is a huge improvement over the dreaded "blackbox" from the early GReddy kits, but I'd stick with the hack personally. Hell, it worked wonders for me and some friends

dude, i'm running that blue box at 10 psi, and had no problems with it what so ever. And prelude 345 injectors. I mean i'm not proud with the blue box, but it's good for now.

I'm assuming you're running a different FMU disk

use the blue box only if youre running at a stock boost. its great. I havent had any drivability problems. No check engine light whatsoever and im running 8.5 lbs of boost.
