Got ticketed in CA. Now I need to see the REF
I received a letter in the mail stating that I could pay bail of $450.
I wish I could give more detail but I quickly scanned the letter and put it down. I haven't touched it since. Does that mean I could pay the 450 and NOT visit the ref? Is that what that letter is about?
I'm sure some of you have received the same letter after getting ticketed for illegal smog mods. That freakin cop popped my hood and busted out his camera and went hollywood on me with the pics. bleech

damn that sucks man ... that's also one of the reasons i'm removing my turbo. fremont/milpitas california is NOT the place to get caught with a turbo
man I feel sorry for all you cali people...I mean over here th ebiggest hassle is being pulled over by autocrime to see if anyhting is stolen...but to actually getting ticketed for changing your engine and stuff...is RIDICULOUS.
Yea, especially in Fremont. That officer Rossettie is always out to get us.
How did u get pulled over? where u speeding or anything?

pinhead... what is the deal with florida emissions... i am gonna be moving there in a couple months and i was wondering how tough it was to pass emissions... pm me or email me... thanks...
Don`t quote me, but if you just "pay the bail" I believe you need to get smogged every year after that. Or if you get caught again they can impound your vehicle. Err something like that. Friend went through the same thing. He pulled the kit off, saw the ref, and re-installed.

. Although it's still illegal to run without a cat, etc. And for the FIRST time in my life i saw someone get pulled over for having too loud of an exhaust. But that's not common.
Tell me more about Rossettie. Is he Fremont PD or Milpitas PD? Does he pull people just because or or actual violations (speeding, california stop, etc). What if you refuse to pop your hood?

uggh, so from what I hear, I can pay that 450 and NOT see the ref?
Damn, I'd hate to pay, then get nabbed again a few days later.
I was pulled over in the first place for registration. I was waiting for the sticker in the mail. So that I have to get signed off. Then those damn gauges and avc-r of mine just made him even more curious. so he went snooping. damn, its a freakin economy sohc honda..... not some gross 8-cyl pollutor.

the guy is in charge of the street racing task force...one time the races got so bad that they cornered everyone at the in and out burger in milpitas...they had a smog machine out there and smoged all the racer.
ahhhh... does he work the "beat" or does he drive a desk all day? If you've been busted by him, let me know where he patrols.. I'd like to avoid those areas.

alright i have friends that have been through this many times. if you pay the bail amount you dont have to see the REF. basically just give them the money thats all any ticket is about anyways. now i qiote this from a friend. you can pay bail on a ref ticket up to three times, but after that you have to go. if you are like me and dont have that kinda cash to blow like that and enjoy working on cars all the time, i say take the kit off and ref it stock, than put it back on once your done. that way you only pay the ref. if i recall last time i went it was $40 pass or fail, plus the x amount for any processing fee on the ticket, about 40 bucks or so on oil and a good half day and i would say you saved a lot. good luck

he said they took a pic of his engine bay, so they will know if he took it off
Thats what I figured. I'm thinking of paying the cash. I just dont have time to pull my stuff off and go to a muffler shop to have the exhaust piping modified to fit the stock header. I can't take off work for that.
Plus its 8:1cr, hondata3bd, 450cc injectors..... aggh, just a pain... to have it smogged stock and fail... then I'd pull the motor and swap it with a true stock engine... blah.... if I get stopped again after I pay this f'in money I'm gonna have to sell the car. It is seriously costing toooo much money to drive a boosted h-car in SoCal.

Pritos,
Research the ticket. My friend actually went to court to pay it, but talked to the judge and didn`t like what he heard at all. Ended up pulling the kit off and visting the ref. E-mail psi420@***.net and ask him what the judge said. All I remember is that there was more to it than just paying the fine.

You Cali boys need to move to Tennessee. You can run open downpipe with 3 state troopers surrounding you, and they don't say a word.
