Default Getting a code 45: any ideas?

I'm getting a code 45: System Too Lean or Too Rich malfunction in the fuel monitoring systems.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing its my MF2 that needs to be tuned.

it's simply means that your car is running too rich or too lean. That right there tells you exactly what you need to do. C'mon don't make me spell it out for you...

You never want to see the codes 71-74 ever. CYCLINDER MISFIRE is not good!!!

I've gotten a CEL 45 once or twice, don't fret. Reset the ECU and be happy till you get a standalone.

Vapor, I know what it means, I'm asking whats causing it.

Also, what senses it? Primary O2?

I had a code 71 -74 alltogether all at once before, with Art's help, it turned out it was the FMU, it stays open at idle....dumping fuel when is not needed....

so if I were you I check the fmu first, find out when exactly does the CEL come on, driving time, idle time and etc, note the rpm as well...

then reset your battery, and by pass the fmu, don't go into boost, just drive around and try to match the same condition that you noted earlier when the CEL came on, and see if the CEL come on again....

if it only happend under boost, see if anyone hasd a FMU you can swap temporarily....

but again, this is based on what happened to me before, so HTH

You know what, i just realized that it only came on after boost. It has to be my mf2. I knew that damn thing wasn't tuned right from the factory.

When I had that code it bothered me. I would reset the ECU and then a week later it would come back. I coundnt figure it out because it would come on at different times, for example after I gassed up. Another time while taking a long road trip. Then I decided to change out my plugs that had been in there for over 30kmiles and that solved it. Never got that code again.

Art, that sounds like a good tip, but my plugs are brand new. I put them in w/ the turbo. I used the NGK BCPR7ES11, but haven't changed the gap yet. I'm not sure what the original gap on those are, but I was gunna set them to .030" tonight.

Oh, and btw, again I have no idea whats causing it. I thought it was that the MF2 was too rich during boost, but today I punched it the hardest I have yet, a full 2nd gear pull, and ....... no code!?

Hey 00 ls I still stand behind my word. THAT MF2 THING IS GARBAGE. I keep on warning u and u dont' listen. Your car is probable runnin so lean that the plugs are whiter than snow. Tunned or not, the mf2 is garbage. Seriously do yourself a favor and get a pump and a fmu, before u blow your motor.

Evil,

My car is not running lean! I checked my plugs....they look normal. I did full a second gear pull at .5bar and my EGT didn't even hit 800. and thats w/ the probe right after the head!

There are people who have tuned MF2s that run 9 and 12 psi daily fine.
