This morning my engine builder, Nuimage Autosports, asked me if i want "gas porting" om my low comperssion pistons. My understanding, gas porting is small holes in the tops of the pistons that run to the ringland on the sides of the pistons. During combustion pressure fills the passages to the ringlands and increases compression by pushing the rings against the cylinder walls. My questions are:
1. If the ring is constantly pressing a little harder against the cylinder wall, will this wear out my slevees faster than normal?
2. Is this a good idea for a turbocharged motor?
3. If there is detonation in any of the cylinders will this spell disaster for the piston since there is already holes in the piston?
any advice and opinions will be greatly appriciated
thanks in advance
