They are all different models of Garrett/Turbonetics turbochargers. The T3 is a smaller turbo than the T4. A common turbocharger is to use the T3 turbine/wheel housing and a T4 compressor housing/wheel. That's how you get a T3/T4. When someone says "T3", they usually mean it is a T3 turbine and compressor. Same goes for "T4". "T3/T4" is a hybrid of the two.

The maximum power of each setup is determined largely by the "trim" of the compressor wheel. When you are reading a compressor map, you are looking at that particular compressor wheel's behavior in relation to boost and cfm (or lbs per min) produced by the compressor.

Go here:
http://www.majesticturbo.com/compression.html

You can see the different maps for each trim of the T3 compressor wheel and some T4 stuff, too. Along the X axis is "air delivery" in lbs per hr. You'll see that as you go up in trims (say a 45 to 60 trim), each wheel is capable of delivering more air. The ovals represent how effiecient a compressor wheel is at that given flow rate. The Y axis has pressure ratio which is a measurement of boost.

now, I also see there is a Mitsubishi t4 turbo, is that the same spec with Garrett t4 turbo?

and what is the advantage of having t3/t4 turbo, I thought t4 is a bigger turbo anyways?

thanks very much for the info...

anyone knows what difference between Garrett/Turbonetics T04/T3 vs. T3/T4. All i know about the hybrid turbo is that first part is size of turbine wheel and second part is how big compression wheel is.

Isnt biger turbine, more lag, and smaller compression lesser boost? Im kinda confused, help please.
