Default Garrett T3/TO4E question

Still getting the hang of compressor maps now.

From what iv researched and looked up map wise the garret Garrett T3/TO4E 50 trim is my best bet...

Around 15psi Ill be just a bit inside of the surge line at around 72% efficiency (3500RPM)
and just past the highest efficiency island of 78% at around my 7k redline. But still in the 75% island surrounding it.

From MY understanding this puts me in a good place for a turbo setup with a 300-350whp goal. It also looks that i can push it to around 20psi before it starts becoming to inefficient.

Let me know what you guys think of my "calculations,".

Also: Around what psi on a turbo this size can i expect 300whp anyways? I have all the data figured out, but im not sure what psi i will be at when i hit 300whp.

Built 2.2L F22A SOHC NO vtec ~9.3 static compression. will be the engine under question here. From all the talk on here i really would have thought that the 50 trim would be too small for a 2.2L...

This is the turbo as well --- http://www.spoolinperformance.com/ga...ing-p-330.html

Ill be going .63 AR

Thanks! Still learning!

The E .50 is a great wheel. I've never fooled with an F22A, but I'm going to guess that you will achieve 300whp at somewhere between 12-15psi.

It seems very common. One thing i just picked up on is there is a stage 3 and a stage 2 turbine wheel. $100 difference between the two, should i bump up to stage 3? Im just not sure if thats worth it for my purposes.

Also is it ever necessary to consider the ported shroud option some sites offer? These turbos seem pretty stable as for as surge goes.

Yes. use the stage III. That is the best combination for that F22A engine. The stage II is just too small for the 350whp goal without getting stressed.

The turbine wheel is at the HEART of making power, not just the compressor wheel.

Alright thanks for the input! I have finally decided on turbo ha
Does anyone have a rough idea when the .63AR would stop making power compared to the .82AR they offer as well?

For an F22A. A .63A/R for that 50 trim will NOT stop making power. Going to a .82A/R is completely unnecessary, and you may not get the same midrange the .63A/R will give.
