Full Race A/C Manifold Bolt help
This is their A/C Manifold, the bolt doesn't fit all the way through, it hits the collector. The nut doesn't fit either by itself, and the bolt doesnt fit the other way either. I'm probably just gonna get a stud and nut, but maybe someone made this work. Thanks for you help.

What's wrong with using the gasket? It's the metal one that was provided. Will it leak? This is my first turbo setup.

Yea, IDK what he was getting at, mine hasn't leaked since I got it. . .

I just got the turbo today in the mail. I got home at 8 and was just test fitting the turbo on the manifold. I didn't have time to go to Home Depot to get a stud and nut, so i just posted to see if anyone made this fit before i went tomorrow to get the stud and nut.
A shorter bolt won't help because the head of the bolt doesn't fit because of the angle of the collector.
Thanks for the responses so far.

then just put it in from the turbine side

If i put a shorter bolt, the NUT itself doesnt fit on the collector side EITHER, and the HEAD of the BOLT doesn't fit on the collector side either.

Why should he have to go buy a shorter bolt? Hes using the equipment that came with the product. Besides anything he could by at any local hardware store would be much lower grade bolt.
its not gonna be a lower grade bolt from home depot, unless he buys a lower grade bolt, they have all types of grades.
the gaskets usually fail but i guess it depends on what type it is. there the metal type ones like the ones that are used for the manifold. and then theres that woven type gasket with a thin metal ring around the opening....those types usually fail, i know my wastegate one did! I ran without a gasket for the past several months, no leaks. nothing to fail and make you pull the **** out to replace it.

so is the bolt hole in the flange threaded ?? i take it that it isnt then

Actually, yes the flange on the manifold is threaded. But the bolts don't thread onto them, the flange hole is bigger then the bolts.
I was also thinking of buying a bolt that would fit the thread but then it would back out with no nut, and loctite doesn't work as well in extreme high temperature such as an exhaust manifold.

if you get the right kind of loctite it will. we used some special hard-to-find stuff on our custom turbo diesel projects. let me find out what it was and i'll let you know

Yea please let know. Red loctite is the strongest i have ever seen.
And if HEAT can't get the loctite off, won't it be a major major bitch to take off even with a breaker bar? I imagine it would, but whatever. I'll buy some studs and nuts and a shorter bolt that threads into the flange. Hopefully either/or works. Thanks for the replies fellas.

You sure you are using/received the right bolts?

I dare you to find a grade 10 bolt at any home depot smarty pants.

Those are the only ones that were in the little box that had 4 bolts/nuts/washers, that fit in the flange. Other bolts that were in the kit were not even close to fitting. As far as if i received the right ones, is another story.
